Bohol Island
March, 1999

Bohol is the tenth largest island in the Philippines. It is located in the central part of the country, the Visayas. Aside from the Chocolate Hills and the tarsier, the world's smallest monkey, Bohol is also famous for its old churches, beaches and diving spots.

The capital of Bohol province is Tagbilaran City.

We took a day trip to Bohol from Cebu City. Travel time aboard the ferry is about two hours. It rained hard when we were there so I was not able to take many pictures. I missed taking snapshots of Baclayon Church, the Blood Compact Site, and other interesting places.

The Chocolate Hills in the town of Carmen is the most famous tourist attraction in Bohol.

There are more than a thousand of these cone-shaped hills.

The tarsier, a small tree-living nocturnal animal,
can rotate its head around almost 360 degrees.
