Pagsanjan Falls, Laguna
Aguinaldo Shrine, Kawit, Cavite
Tagaytay, Cavite
Subic

Pagsanjan Falls is located in the town of Pagsanjan, province of Laguna, south of Manila. The banca trip going to the waterfall is slow, along the meandering Magdapio river. Arriving near the base of the fall, you take a bamboo raft to go nearer the waterfall. The trip back down the rapids is the most exciting part.

Kawit is a town in the province of Cavite, south of Manila. It is the hometown of General Emilio Aguinaldo, the first president of the republic. From the balcony of his home, Philippine independence was proclaimed and the first Philippine flag was raised.

Tagaytay is located in the boundary between Cavite and Batangas, some kilometers south of Manila. It overlooks Taal Lake and Taal Volcano (the municipality of Taal is part of Batangas).

Subic was once a US naval base. When the new Philippine Constitution was ratified in 1987, it called for the dismantling of all foreign military bases. The last american ship left Subic Bay in 1992, thus ending the 94-year presence of the American military in the Philippines. The base was converted into a freeport zone.

The Grandview Complex near the rotunda in Tagaytay is a good place to get a first glimpse of Taal.
