The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Fatima Ejaculation

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins,
save us from the fires of hell
and lead all souls into heaven
especially those who need most Your mercy.

Prayer to the Guardian Angel

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom His love commits me here,
Ever this day (this night) be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
Angelus

The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
And she conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit.
          Hail Mary . . .
Behold the handmaid of the Lord,
Be it done to me according to Your Word.
          Hail Mary . . .
And the Word was made flesh,
And dwelt among us.
          Hail Mary . . .
V: Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
R: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
Pour forth, we beseech You, O Lord,
Your grace into our hearts,
that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ,
Your Son,
was made known by the message of an angel,
may by His Passion and Cross
be brought to the glory of His Resurrection,
through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell;
on the third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and seated at the right hand of God,
the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.
Glory be to the Father

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.

Our Father

Our Father in heaven, holy be Your name;
Your kingdom come;
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sinned against us;
do not bring us to the test
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy;
hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry,
poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy towards us;
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help, or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother,
to you I come,
before you I stand sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise noy my petitions,
but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You,
and I detest all my sins,
because I dread the loss of heaven
and the pains of hell,
but most of all because I offended You, my God,
who are all good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace,
to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.
Regina Coeli
(To be said at Eastertide instead of the Angelus)

Queen of heaven, rejoice, Alleluia.
For He whom you were made worthy to bear. Alleluia.

Is risen as He said. Alleluia.
Pray for us to God. Alleluia.

V: Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary! Alleluia.
R: For the Lord is truly risen. Alleluia.
          Let us pray:
O God, who through the Resurrection
of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
has been pleased to fill the world with joy,
grant, we beseech You,
that through the intercession
of the Virgin Mary, His Mother,
we may be brought to the joys of eternal life,
through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

          O Lord, I pray that in my home, peace, quiet and well being may prevail under the shadow of Your holy mantle. Bless and protect, O Lord, my endeavors, my enterprises, and all those who depend on me and everything that I long for and desire. Banish from my mind and my heart false ideas and evil sentiments. Infuse in me a love of my neighbor and grant me the means to help him. Give me resignation and fortitude of spirit in time of adversity, so that I may rise above the contradictions of life. Guide and protect, O Lord, my own who are exposed to the dangers and contingencies of the world. Do not forget, O my Jesus, our loved ones with whom we were united in life and whose departure from this earth caused us sorrow, at the same time consoled by the thought that, because they remained faithful to You, You did not abandon them at the hour of death. Have pity on them, O Lord, and bring them to their eternal glory in heaven. Amen.

Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

      Divine Jesus, You have said, "Ask, and you shall receive; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you," behold me kneeling at Your Feet, filled with a lively faith and confidence in the promises dictated by Your Sacred Heart and pronounced by Your adorable lips. I come to ask this favor: (Here silently mention your petitions.)

      To whom can I turn if not to You whose Heart is the source of all graces and merits? Where should I seek if not in the treasure which contains all the riches of Your kindness and mercy? Where must I knock if not at the door through which we go to God? I have recourse to You, Heart of Jesus. In You I find consolation when afflicted, protection when persecuted, strength when burdened with trials, and light in doubt and darkness.

      Dear Jesus, I firmly believe that You can grant me the grace I implore, even though it should require a miracle. You have only to will it, and my prayer will be granted. I admit that I am most unworthy of Your favors, but this is not a reason for me to be discouraged. You are the God of mercy and You will not refuse a contrite heart. Cast upon me a look of mercy, I beg of You, and Your kind Heart will find in my miseries and weakness a reason for granting my prayer.

      O Sacred Heart, whatever may be Your decision with regard to my request, I will never stop adoring, loving, praising, and serving You. My Jesus, be pleased to accept this my act of perfect resignation to the decrees of Your adorable Heart which I sincerely desire may be fulfilled in and by me and all Your creatures forever.

      Sacred Heart of Jesus, I know that there is but one thing impossible to You: to be without pity for those who are suffering or in distress. Look upon me, I beg of You, dear Jesus, and grant me the grace for which I humbly implore You through the immaculate heart of Your most sorrowful Mother. You have entrusted me to her as her child, and her prayers are all powerful with You. Amen.

Prayer

God, our loving Father, through men and women with compassionate hearts, you show how much you care for people. We pray for the beatification of your humble handmaid, MOTHER IGNACIA DEL ESPIRITU SANTO whose life of total love and service reflected your goodness. May the example of her holy life, in imitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, inspire us to seek your will in all things and to serve you in all people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

BRIEF ACCOUNT OF THE LIFE OF MOTHER IGNACIA DEL ESPIRITU SANTO

      Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo, daughter of a Chinese father and a Filipino mother of Bonondo, Manila, was born when the Philippines was almost a century old as a Spanish colony. It was an age when Christianity had hardly begun to take root in the hearts and lives lives of the people and when the social climate was characterized by racial prejudice and discrimination.
      Living under such a climate which affected both the social and ecclesiastical millieu of the country, and under the strict surveillance of her parents, the young Ignacia begun in 1684 what is today known as the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary. It was with the true spirit of generosity and openness, strengthened by a geniune spirit of courage and trust in Divine Providence that she laid the foundation of such a group of women with her extraordinary and exemplary life of prayer and penance.
      Ignacia's life became an inspiration to other young women of her times.
      At the time of her death on September 10, 1748, she had fifty companions who aspired towards the same ideals and goals for which Ignacia herself left home and parents in order to live a life of prayer, sacrifice and service.
      At a time when the nature of religious life was in many ways monastic, and therefore protected within convent walls by cloister and grills, the little group of Mother Ignacia added to such convent practices, a life of action and service. In particular, they involved themselves in the retreat movement for women, and in the education of the less fortunate of society. The same works continue even today among the more than 70 R.V.M. communities and the more then 600 R.V.M. Sisters all over the Philippines and the foreign missions.
      After receiving a series of preliminary decrees of recognition by the Holy See, the Constitutions of the congregation was definitively approved by the Vatican on January 12, 1948.
      At the time of her death, Mother Ignacia received the honor and recognition which was denied her during her lifetime. Even Spanish officials and ecclesiastics carried the casket of the humble Filipina to her earthly resting place in the Church of St. Ignatius in Intamuros, Manila.
